Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The third episode ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.
This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might appear mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—exploited the enemy for his own means, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as important members in the influential clan could help the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now follow him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Strategists parties.
Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
